I thought when we left Hawaii that I would have worry-free nights of bugs, insects, huge cockroaches, centipedes, creatures, and geckos appearing in our bed while we slept. But NO, I got stung by a scorpion last night. YES, A SCORPION! I am sitting in my bed right now freaked out by every little tickle on my body or face. Last night it stung me on my finger, I jumped out of bed screaming and shaking my hair around thinking a spider had just bit me and could possibly still be on me somewhere. So I tore off my sundress (and yes, I sleep in a comfy, cotton, Grecian styled maxi summer dress) and by this time Ben is ripping all the sheets, comforters, pillows off of the bed looking for a spider. No spider in site! So Ben goes up to my sundress and gives it a brutal shaking and out drops Mr. Scorpion!! We both could not believe it. Ben grabs some scissors and just cuts in in half-DONE. It always feels so uncomfortable killing live things- even scorpions. But Ben was my BAD-ASS NINJA HERO right in that moment and I could not have been more grateful that thing was in two pieces. Then Ben instantly starts googling "what to do if you get bit by a scorpion", and it turns out it just depends on the scorpion and the person's allergic reaction to it- if any. Which I am happy to report I felt FABULOUS all day long.
It's just now dark and bed time and I am nervous to lay my head down on my awesome pillow. So why not blog about it.
I love to think that ALL things that show up in my life is the Divine speaking to me. So I looked up a couple of web sites that shared about ancient Native American beliefs about what the scorpion can represent when one surfaces in your life.
Here is just a little bit of one; I LOVE IT!
Therefore, as a symbol meaning, the Scorpion represents protection. When the
Scorpion makes an appearance in our lives, it is beckoning us to consider
the following:
- What needs protecting in my life?
- Am I being overprotective?
- Am I being defensive? Why?
- Am I afraid of being vulnerable?
- How do I feel about control in my life? (too much, too little)
GREAT QUESTIONS TO ASK MYSELF!
guess I'll lay my big head down on my yummy pillow and ponder each one of them and then hopefully just fall asleep.
-AND STAY ASLEEP!!
