JOHN IN THE CITY

OK first I want to say that I think my son looks incredibly handsome. Now I feel that I can express how tacky, ugly, and hilarious I think school picture backgrounds are! This is not even his official school picture for the year, this is a "Spring-time" photo shoot they offer to the students?!? I of course was not into it and chucked it in the trash after Hannah and I had spent several minutes making fun of all the ridiculous super fake backgrounds they were offering and thinking John would think the same. Oh boy was I wrong! He was completely excited about the Spring-time option and asked me to fill it out. I told him I had thrown it away while he was in his room earlier. His mouth dropped and he looked at me disgusted. "How could you do that Mom?". Hannah instantly looked at me laughing because she knew I would be digging in the trash to find the paperwork for one, and second she was surprised to see how passionate John was about it. Found the damp paperwork at the bottom of the trash, then asked John to pick out a background and I would write him a check, but before I could finish my sentence he said "THIS ONE!" He had obviously been planning on getting the city at night. I asked him in a condesending way if he was sure (I am such a beast) and he strongly answered that yes, that was the one he wanted. That was almost a month ago. Yesterday John comes home from school, proudly walks into the kitchen with his Spring-time picture in hand, sees me and plants it on the island and with 3 confident, "told ya so" taps on the picture of him he looks me in the eyes and says "Now THAT, is a great picture."
