JOHN HAS A FRIEND!!
This sounds hilarious as I am typing it - but it is soooo true and fantastic! John John has never asked to have a friend over or even cared if he had friends. I've invited kids over to show him how fun it is to have a friend. Hannah has friends over all the time and he will say hello to them but then becomes disengaged instantly. Then out of the blue with the assistance of their social worker(LOVE YOU HEATHER!!) two boys with high functioning autism came to discover how many things they had in common. Then it hit John that they could both go do the things HE LOVES because SEAN LOVES them too! So off we went to the CAR WASH, EXPLORA, then of course McDONALD'S. It was so dang cute watching them hang out together. They kept good track of each other, enjoying so many of the same things. I was laughing and crying simultaneously inside watching something that I had never seen before with John. On the way home Sean asked John what they were doing for their next play-date? John constantly reminds me to be in the moment and that each moment is NEW--EACH ONE--ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!
From the depths of my heart I want to thank all the wonderful people who have loved and assisted John and Sean this past year- The results speak for themselves!! You are truly ANGELS.
